Measuring Your PD

Measuring Your PD

Pupillary distance (PD) measures the distance between the centers of your pupils. It is used to determine where you look through the lenses and should be as accurate as possible.

Your PD will usually be measured by your optometrist or optician during the eye test. If it was not provided in the prescription card, you may follow these 3 simple steps to measure it yourself.

You will need a mirror and a ruler for this measurement.

Step 1: Stand about 30cm away from the mirror. Place the ruler above your eyes

Step 2: Close your right eye then align the zero mm line with the center of your left pupil.

Step 3: Continue look straight and close your left eye. At the same time, open your right eye. The mm line that lines up to the center of your right pupil is your PD.

Do repeat this process at least three times to ensure that your measurement is consistent. If you are unsure, you can always drop by our store to have it measured as part of the eye test.
